We can be heros

I recently watched a video from Jamie Wheal that put into context of, “being and doing what you love and aspire.” Now, if you look you can find Jamie Wheal’s videos on Youtube or visit his Facebook page. He is famous for the Flow Genome Project documentary and the Hack the Flow videos that you can find on the internet. And the reason I liked this particular video he came out with is, because first off, it is the first one that I found that said what I was thinking.

It speaks of heroes or she-roes in life that we seek through life. We all like those themes where we get to see a hero in action, because somehow it gives us wings into our imagination. It sort of picks us up and takes us somewhere for awhile. I believe we all love heroes. We all seek heroes.

But who are our heros?

Are you thinking of it?

Did you pick out some names?

Are you still thinking of it?

Did you happen to pick out your own name in all of it? I think you should. We all should have our name first. If you start to think of all the things you’ve been through up until today, it adds up. You know they say that being born is a traumatic experience. For months, you are floating in water in the dark listening to a heart beat and a voice (mother.) The day you are born, the water slowly disappears and you are being forced from your home of nine months into a small canal. Imagine that. The experience is a, some cases, twelve hour ordeal. Then suddenly, you are thrust into bright lights and being pulled in every way possible.

But you made it. You’re here. And although, some days even, you may question that but we shouldn’t ignore this very first feat. We did it. There must have been a reason for that?

I’ll agree life can be complicating and some days confusing. You kind of wonder about it all at points and intersections of your life. But not to forget, everything up until now. That is where the secret lies I think. For instance, who learned to tie their own shoes? Who learned to ride that bike regardless of what happened? Who learned about computers? Who won the awards or the recognition? Who earned that diploma? Who is making sure the kids are ok and taken care? These are some of the things that we forget along the way. Somewhere inside, we sadly forgot to appreciate our story. Because we are not taught that in school. And the average household has two or more kids, bills to worry about, two or more jobs to work at, food to think about, social activities to plan for the family, holidays they wonder about, family visits to plan, ailing members to care for, and their own secret grievances and losses to tend to, if there’s time left.

So you get it, right?

We do a lot. We do a lot every day. It is easy to forget how to appreciate who we are and what we do.

I’ll never forget a valuable lesson a family member share with me one day when I was completely stressed out. He said, “take what you can deal with right now, and do that. When you are finished with that, move on to the next thing.” He was right. What he meant was, do the doable right now and don’t worry about the other stuff until you get there. I was saved by those words that day. That day…he was my hero. He helped me remember who and what I was.

Long story short…we are the heroes of our lives. We are the ones who make it through. We are the ones who make it work. But we have to ask ourselves, is that all we are doing? If all we are doing is making it or making it work for the sake of getting through and not really enjoying ourselves. Are we really alive?

In this day in life I believe that there is magic. And it’s not the kind of magic you might be thinking of. This magic happens when you live an authentic life that is everything you could ever ask for and more. It means you are following your heart. And the beauty of it, the magic of it all, is that you are being rewarded with goodness. It means you are full, full of love, of respect, and all those things you desire. It means that life is fun and it’s fun every day.

So, we are either at three different stages in life right now. One, life is not fun and we are asking how to make it right. Two, we are ready and trying out new things to find that sweet spot. Three, we’ve turned the leaf and are living in the magic.

One of the great things that Jamie says in his video, is that he references what lives in our heart (our jobs) is what we should do. No matter what that is. If we love it…it is where we belong. It is the way to see ourselves as heroes. Think of it, who would speak badly of themselves if we loved every second of what we did. No one. So therein lies the magic. Do what you love and you will be the hero all the time. And you will show others how to be the hero in their life.

To watch the video from Jamie, you watch it here.

Again, as always, thanks for reading and do come back again to see me.

Upwards and Onwards

Never say die. Now that is some gold right there, a positive attitude. We all need to create the mindset that will get us over a slump from time to time. It’s just common sense.

Today, the blog is about writing. Oh yes, writing.

I’ve taken the plunge into a book once more, with a slight twist. This new book that I am working on includes poems and anecdotes to inspire. Short, mindful words to start a fire in the brain. That’s what I call it.

Speaking of fire, I’d say that this fire for me started about a year ago when I said that I wanted to create a book like this. So, here I go!

Currently, I am working on book covers as well. That’s the artist in me that likes to multi task when I start projects. I may pay someone to make it for me, who knows yet? But for now I will keep my options open to doing it myself. And that’s a struggling writers way to go, lol.

I am unsure as to when it will be ready, but be sure when it is, you will find it here!! YES! I will also use my Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook to promote it too. I hope you join me on this exciting journey.

I may also include my audience/readers in the experience when it comes to choosing a book cover. I am sure I will have three or four to pick from, so I may need help.

If you want to be part of my journey, you are free to join on Instagram and search for me by typing, therealsoval. You can also join me on Pinterest by searching, atouchofsoval. I will follow you back if you leave me a comment on how to find you.

So, thanks again for reading. I hope you return to check out future blogs that pertain to this post and if you haven’t hit subscribe, please do that before you go.

More is better

Hey! So, I can’t get over how easy some recipes can be. If you are interested in getting more healthy, cutting down on carbs and just eating better, here is something that is all of that. Chia seeds are packed with fiber, iron and calcium. They have the essential omega 3 fatty acids that are bodies require for health. Chia seeds were said to be used by hunters/warriors on long journeys to keep them full longer.

Here are some recipes that include chia seeds and when mixed with liquid, it turns into a jelly.

Co..co..coconut!!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love fast and easy food recipes that are inexpensive (almost always!) and that are healthy for you. So, in case you have never heard of coconut yogurt, you are in luck. I brought a video to show you just how easy it is to make.

While it does take some time to prepare this healthy recipe, I believe that it is so worth it. Give it a try, let me know how you like it.

Luck vs. Fate

Is life random? Or is there a much more divine design? What do you believe? How has your life unfolded up until now? Think about it. Doesn’t it blow you away?

I used to think that luck played a part in my life. It was when those acts of “just happening” at the right time took place. But now that I am older, that has faded. I think luck can still be part of our story, but it’s more about creating our own luck. And I think we do it by how we think.

Fate on the other hand is the grander design, to me. It’s the big picture. But even fate is created by what we do on a daily basis. We can waiver fate at any moment by shifting how we think and what we feel and do. It’s never a clear path to one sort of life. To me, I think that’s so exciting. I also believe passion plays a role in fate as well. It’s that ‘thing’ that calls to us on a daily or weekly basis that we draw strength from. It widens our playing field so that we can create more of what we draw in from passion. They say that the hearts’ magnetic field is a hundred times more stronger than our brain. So passion is our heart. It’s that thing we love. It makes us beautiful. It makes us attractive. It creates energy.

When I was growing up I didn’t understand any of this. And I suppose we learn what we are supposed to learn at certain points in life based on our thought process. I didn’t grow up in the healthiest environments. I had a hard start to life. But no matter where life took me, I was determined to figure out what my life meant. I wanted to see its purpose. Its design. Now I am here and I love that I am here. I get to understand. I get to see. There was a process. I never really understood that until recently. And there’s a certain amount of freedom to it. It’s revealing. You kind of take a step back and go, “wow!” And then you do it again, and again.

I do believe we create luck and we also create fate, but fate is like the big goals we think up as young kids or adults. Life is always changing. So it should be that our big goals should as well. I don’t think life should be nailed down because we get stuck along the way. The getting stuck only causes confusion and frustration, including disappointment. It’s nice to have goals. It’s also nice to have fun while getting to your goals. I think that some of us are too hard on ourselves. We become our biggest critics. This is where I think everyone needs to have a daily reminder on their wall or refrigerator that reads,”life might’ve gotten us today but tomorrow is another day to win.” Motivation is something I rely on a lot to get through a week. I think everyone needs it.

A good thing to remember is just because life isn’t happening how you want it now, doesn’t mean that it’s never going to happen.

Little by little, life teaches us to trust the process. This is what I have learned. So when I want to create luck, I run like the wind with my ideas until I can see them forming in the horizon. And if I never see them (after a long while!) I just say to myself, “well, that probably wasn’t meant for me now.” Time has a way of showing us where we are in life, respectfully. And I honour that by understanding what times is teaching me. I trust my heart will show me in time. If not now, then tomorrow.

I just wanted to share that…I hope you enjoyed!
