A Summer’s End

So I recently visited the nations capitol for a few days and was pleasantly surprised. It was my first visit. I found it very easy to navigate myself around the city to enjoy some of the sites. I stayed closed to downtown in a small Airbnb, which was nice (thanks, Jacob!)

The weather was a tad on the hot side but I am not complaining, in fact it was bearable. It wasn’t unbearable like some places where you feel like you are dying. Most of my excursions I took I travelled by foot and that’s what surprised me. I could be anywhere in under fifteen minutes. This was a bonus for a first timer. The food was great and so this was an extra for me. I ate breakfast at the Elgin Street Diner, a twenty four hour diner on Elgin (of course!) My waiter, Mark was very hospitable. It was a very nice restaurant and I gave it a eight. I also went to eat dinner at Pure Kitchen, The Grand Pizzeria and Joey restaurant. Pure Kitchen is a vegan/ vegetarian restaurant on Elgin. It was a treat. The mushroom soup is so good. For real, one of the best soups I have ever tasted. The meal was so filling I couldn’t finish my veggie wrap. Joey restaurant on the other hand was a bit of a downer. The food was great, I just wished my waitress was as great. But you can’t win them all. The veggie burger is made from scratch and you have to be careful when eating it. It was everywhere when I was done. Thats the thing about veggie burgers. But it was so tasty. I was saddened that there were not more vegetarian options available. The Grand Pizzeria is a busy place but the food and service were awesome. I have no regrets and I would visit again. Nothing got me more views than the double decker tour I took to see the city, including Hull,Quebec. I even passed the Prime Minister’ residence on Sussex. The ninety minute tour was lovely. I couldn’t help but feel so like a tourist.

Would I go back? Yes, of course. It was an awesome visit. As for it happening at the end of summer, the weather was perfect. I hooked up with a Tea spot that ships tea out. Total bonus!!! I picked out three blends that I am sure will not disappoint. So I added their Facebook. So I can scratch Ottawa off as a place that I have been to. Check! Since this is a blog about the end of summer and travel, I should include Orillia as another area I visited this summer. I spent three days with my beautiful daughter and we had a grand time. So summer may be over but my adventurous heart lives on. Where will my travelling heart go next? Who knows? But we know it will be fun. Thanks for joining me.
